More from the big ditch

Krystina and I rode up to Glacier Point with our friend Daniel the other night to shoot the stars. I really enjoyed being up there late at night and Kry seemed to find a million shooting stars. It all made for a good night.

So, Krystina was sitting in the meadow talking on the phone so I decided to use the time to set up a portrait of her. Here it is...

On the way back to the car from shooting the stars Kry almost stepped on this scorpion! We decided to shoot some pictures of it and since it decided to pose so nicely I shot too many as usual.

Not Quite Mt. Canness!!

Spesh Ball close to the not so summit of Mt. Canness.

So... The other day Steve, Spesh, and I went to hike Mt. Canness. We started following the cairns instead of the map and ended up going on the wrong side of a ridge and having to turn around because of time. It stunk to not get to the actual summit but it was really fun hanging out with friends and doing one more hike with Steve before his ankle surgery.

Ferns and Halfdome

Most of the time the deer stay away (well relatively) but this one came right up to a little girl. You should have seen the look on her face. Most of these are shot at 400mm but this guy came up so close that i had to switch to a 70mm and then back up. It was really cool for all the visitors to get so see a deer so close until one Touron grabbed the bucks antlers and made him run off. Stupid Tourons

El Cap Meadows and Others

Full moon light on El Cap. Joel and I spent the night in El Cap Meadow the other night. Its such a beautiful quite setting and you can really feel the size of El Cap in the moonlight.

We were leaving the Terrace, and Joel saw this picture while walking out to the car, and he ran to get the camera hoping that the picture was still there. And it was!

This is the helicopter that was coming out of the river gorge in the video. On the way back home we got out of the car and stopped to take pictures of the helicopter getting water.

The Fire Near Yosemite

So as many people know there is a HUGE fire near Yosemite, but as of this morning it is 40% contained! Today Joel and I drove into Mariposa to get the internet and power, since we have been without power for 6 days! We recieved power 2 days ago for a couple hours then it went out and yesterday for a couple more hours and now we might not get power until tomorrow! Crazyness!!
But today Joel and I drove by where the fire had been and it is still going behind the ridges that we passed. But we saw a helicopter fly out of the river gorge and one fly into it! It was so cool! The pilots have to be amazing at what they do!!
So here a short video of one of the helicopters and more pictures to come from Joel's camera! The video ends short because Joel wanted me to take pictures with his camera, so I stopped the video.
